Taiwan’s Coast Guard said late on 31 October that it was monitoring two Chinese patrol vessels east of the island. According to CNA, its deployment included the patrol ship Ji An.
Taipei alleged radio harassment of passing ships and rejected Chinese jurisdiction over the area. These allegations represent the Taiwanese authority’s account.
China’s Coast Guard described the 31 October operation as routine law enforcement. The two sides therefore offered conflicting interpretations of the same patrol, which CNA reported on 1 November.
