UKMTO reported on 8 November that a tanker was struck by an unknown projectile while transiting outbound through the Strait of Hormuz. Its delayed warning 200-26 dates the incident to 20:20 UTC on 7 November 2026, citing the company security officer.

All crew are reported safe and accounted for, with no environmental impact reported. The warning classifies the incident as an attack, without naming the vessel or an attacker.

Different details from the Khasab report

The earlier warning 199-26, already covered, concerned a tanker fire and crew evacuation eight nautical miles northwest of Khasab at 19:20 UTC on the same day. That notice cited military authorities and classified the incident as suspicious activity.

The notices give different times, descriptions and sources. Without vessel identities, they cannot be assumed to be connected, and details from one should not be transferred to the other. In particular, the evacuation reported near Khasab does not describe the crew’s situation in warning 200-26.

Information for passing ships

UKMTO warnings inform masters and company security officers about incidents within its voluntary reporting area. The service acts as a contact point for emergencies and asks masters to submit incident reports. Its reporting framework supports the exchange of security information among mariners, shipping companies and authorities operating in the region.
